Hellgate isn't bad, but it deff isn't a game that can be played for more then an hour or so.

GW story is a joke tbh

You realized that both games were bad and you should just stick to real life and or better games?

I have to agree HGL is pretty bad. I just couldn't be bothered with it's problem's after a few weeks.

@ artay: Yes Orange Box is definatly worth picking up. Portal alone is great and I absolutely rofled at the completion theme

To all the detractors form the GW story you do realize that all RPG stories are pretty much the same right? Big bad nasty thing threatens to destroy the world/kingdom/universe/whatever and a band of brave heros must rise up to stop it while gaining allies and helping others along the way. It's all the same story with different antagonists and protagonists.

Not at all. It's the quality, depth and presentation that matter.

Besides, if you're going to generalize so broadly, you could apply that to every movie/game/story ever made. Doesn't change the fact that some suck and some are incredible.

Ok I'll give you that but what did you expect. Let's face it this is not a persistent infinitely replayable game. You can beat all three campaigns in under 40 hours if you just follow the storyline. That's less than the average console RPG. There just isn't enough gameplay time to get in depth and personal with all the characters. I mean Xenosaga, to complete the entire storyline across all three games takes well over 120 hours. It has lots of depth, in fact it has so much depth and lore that you have to have that database thing in game to explain some of the stuff that they just don't have time to cover. The PC RPG market is just different. We expect to either have a persistent world or we expect to be able to breeze through it in short time then go item hunting. So they have to follow the tried and true fantasy story formula while at the same time meeting our expectations of the game in terms of play time.

Just bought HGL. I'm enjoying it, because of how crazily similar it is to Diable II. It is however incredibly buggy, it runs like shit if you specify that you're machine is DX10 compatible (apparently your machine might be, but the game isn't), the character customization sucks balls as it's just the same faces and hair styles for all classes, and the armour it boring, ugly and un original.

The gameplay itself isn't so bad, and I like the level designs. But seriously, GW is clearly a far, far superior game.

Guild Wars story is crap, but that comes with almost every MMO, or massively multiplayer online game for some. But when you compare the two storys of Guild Wars and Hellgate......OMG Guild Wars story rules! Hellgate is supposed to be a Diablo clone and in NO WAY should be talked about in the same light. Hellgate is a major dissappointment, more then GWEN for me. They are trying to turn an action rpg into a MMO and its just dumbing everything down. The bugs are almost all gone now, but it still gets boring really really fast.
